Dr. Motaz Melhem graduated from the University of Jordan School of Medicine, one of the most respected medical institutions in the region. From early in his training, he was drawn to urology for its unique combination of medical and surgical management, spanning everything from endoscopy and laser surgery to complex reconstructive procedures. He was equally drawn to its deeply personal nature, as urological conditions touch on fertility, sexuality, and continence, areas that profoundly affect how people live and feel about themselves.

After graduating with his M.D., Dr. Melhem completed his internship at Jordan University Hospital before embarking on a five-year urology residency. Those years were formative, rigorous, demanding, and filled with the kind of clinical exposure that builds a surgeon. During his residency he sat and passed the MRCS examination of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, a milestone that reflected both his surgical ability and his ambition to meet international standards. On completing his residency, he earned the Jordanian Board of Urology and made a decision that would define his career: to continue his training in the United Kingdom.

The move to the UK was not a short visit or an observership. It was a full commitment to NHS surgical training at its most demanding. Dr. Melhem trained as a Senior Clinical Fellow at Darent Valley Hospital, where he developed advanced skills in kidney stone surgery at one of the UK's dedicated stone centres, and at Medway Maritime Hospital, where he gained experience in urological cancer surgery at the West Kent Cancer Centre. These were years of high-volume, high-complexity surgery alongside some of the best urological surgeons in Britain.

The pinnacle of his UK training came with his Andrology Fellowship at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in London, one of the world's most renowned teaching hospitals. Here he immersed himself in the subspecialty of men's health and fertility, developing expertise that remains rare in the region. He went on to sit and pass the FRCS (Urol) examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the highest surgical qualification in the UK, and subsequently took up a post as Consultant Urologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of Barts Health, one of the largest hospitals in the country.
Dr. Melhem returned to Amman with a clear purpose: to offer his patients the standard of urological care he practiced in the United Kingdom, without them having to leave Jordan to access it. He established his practice at Al Hayat Medical Complex, where he continues to see patients, operate, and contribute to the urological literature.
